Sunday Lunch with Christian, Simone and Marco at Port La Nouvelle

Christian and Simone's house at Port La Nouvelle just 200 yards from the sea. Sunday lunch consisted of : Calimari, Moules starter, Roast Leg of Lamb with Haricot Verts in garlic and butter, Tomato and Cucumber Salad, Yoghurt with Marco's home made Fig, Orange and Lemon confiture, Two Cheeses with fresh bread and all washed down with a lake of red and white wine.
What a great day.

Walls taken down, beams exposed, wife pissed.

All three beams on the first floor are now exposed and are in beautiful condition considering that they are around 100 years old. The bedroom wall was made up of terra cotta tiles which are of a similar age and are exactly the same as the floor tiles. We have saved them all, around 100 in total. A local man says they are valuable, around seven euros each.
The question now is where do we put the bedroom? I quite like the open plan feel.

Steady progress at the house.

The plumber, Mr Garcia, has done the first fix and installed the combi boiler. We have demolished the old toilet ready for the new bathroom extension. Bloody hard work but worthwhile in the end.
We found two false ceilings in the bedrooms, above which we found a huge amount of roof space and a number of oak beams that we want to expose.
Vincent the "Placoman" will be arriving soon to plasterboard the walls and ceilings.
